Looking after the gardens

May 22, 2022 By Teacher

Here at Play to Learn our tamariki look after our environment and surrounding. They help look after our gardens and front yard and when there are lots of weeds, they help to clear our gardens just to keep them nice and clean. We have been teaching our tamariki about weeds and why they should be removed from the gardens.

Weeds are simply unwanted plants that grow themselves without anyone planting them. Our tamariki have learned that weeds harm the crops and they make the environment look unpleasant so it’s better to pull them out rather than waiting for too long. Great work, tamariki ma!!

“Even if your garden is perfect for growing plants and has all the nutrients your plants could need, weeds will steal those nutrients and cause your plants to become weak. After all, there is only so much nutrients in the soil. The more plants there are, they have to start sharing the nutrients. And that means that some plants may not get as many nutrients. For the sake of your poor plants, pull the weeds out of your garden. Your hard work will be worth it when you harvest your bountiful crop”. ~ https://everythingbackyard.net/importance-pulling-weeds-garden/
