Here at Play to Learn our tamariki have been doing some gardening in the overs room. They have planted some silver beet and spinach. During this time they had a deep koorero about the plants and learned the names of the different types of plants being planted in the garden. After planting our tamariki watered the gardens as the plants need water for nutrients and growth. Great work tamariki ma!!
“Children can learn new skills, have fun, play, and develop self-confidence by spending time in the garden tending plants and growing their own food. Most children enjoy being outdoors and love digging in the soil, getting dirty, creating things, and watching plants grow”. https://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/health/healthyliving/gardening-for-children
