Childcare for Under Two-year Olds
The primary caregivers in our under two area are influenced by the Magda Gerber Approach. It is an approach of love and respect where each child develops authentically without intervention, at his or her pace. Children have the freedom to “do their own thing” and “be who they want to be” in a carefully structured environment.
“Childhood is not a race to see how quickly a child can read, write and count. Childhood is a small window of time to learn and develop at a pace which is right for each individual child.”
They get security from permanency, consistency and anticipation: time to sleep, time to eat, time to explore inside and time to be outside. Within this predictable rhythm of centre life children have time for uninterrupted exploratory play, which is encouraged through the use of treasure baskets and heuristic play.
A generous teacher/child ratio will be maintained at all times in order to provide quality education for your child.
Among other things we also offer early childcare opening hours, open communication and a team with a wealth of experience. With up to date IT equipment, large outdoor area, age-appropriate programs and strong transition to school programs our aim is to fulfil the needs of your child in a holistic approach through all their early learning years.
Some feedback from whanau:
We are always greeted by smiling teachers who welcome us every morning. The children are happily engaged in numerous activities and we love seeing stories on Storypark. It makes it alot easier leaving your children when you know they are in great care. Play to Learn has been very accommodating and flexible with our working arrangements and we really appreciate it. Teachers are very supportive when it comes to things like toilet training, changing babies routines and so on. As parents of three boys who all attend the Centre we can highly recommend Play to Learn.
